Pushing his Luck
Clues and Red Herrings
Did that pale-faced young man come looking for a vacant flat just by chance - or was he after a particular flat?
Perhaps it's just coincidence that the Plumber's initials ACE Plumbing are the same as the gold robber's name. Remember, Rachel has seen a photo of the real bank robber on the microfilm - if it was the plumber, wouldn't she know straight away? Also, that soaked carpet thrown away in the skip proves that there really is a leaking pipe in the flats.
Their new neighbour had been in prison - the same prison as the gold robber.
Gerald is so interested in his uncle's money, but perhaps he loves his old uncle really.
The newspaper story on microfilm stated that the gold robber really did live in Henry's flat. So where might he hide a treasure map? And why is Micky Moran so keen to scrape the old wallpaper off, especially when he hasn't any idea of how he is going to redecorate the room?
Sarah's dad is jealous of Henry, but surely not enough to murder him. I'm sure he's a very nice dad really, he just doesn't know how to show it.
Before you go, here's a secret from behind the title.....
I got the idea for this story sitting on a coach returning home from a trip to London. It was early evening but because it was winter, it was dark outside.
As the coach travelled through the suburbs of London, we passed so many houses and blocks of flats where you could just briefly glimpse people living their lives - and then they were gone. Maybe I glimpsed old Henry sitting there, telling his tales...
Hope you enjoy the book!
